I’m Ann’s older sister, Hannah. Ever since Ann was a newborn baby, we always seemed to get along like a house on fire. I knew we would, right from the beginning; there was a little glint in her eyes the day I first met her. I don’t see her everyday, just the weekends, but even so, she’s still a massive lump of love in my heart!

She isn’t much of a TV person- iPad’s more of her thing! But occasionally, she still watches Barney, In the Night Garden and Bob the Builder. She also likes ice-cream- but we try not to mention the word too much in front of her! She’s really into bubbles right now and can blow them better than me!

Ann has really transformed my life and for all the eight years I haven’t had a sister, I never knew what I was missing! My friends who have little sisters say they’re very annoying, but their sisters are older than Ann, so I’ll just have to wait to find out!

The story of our baby Ann came by chance, Hounslow Chronicle, our local newspaper is doing a baby section since new year 2009, and they are collecting stories from the newborn babies at West Middlesex University Hospital, we were so lucky to be selected to be the story of this week (published on 12th Feb).

Just the second day we were back home from hospital, Jessica from the newspaper called me saying she would like to have an interview with me for the story of our Baby daughter. Of course I was more than happy to do so as you can imagine.

Being a new mum, everything about our baby is so exciting. During the interview, I couldn’t help myself talking about Ann non-stop, we went through the whole pregnancy, my labour, baby’s name and most of all how much joy that Ann brings to the family and how this little creature changes our lives...

On 8th of Feb Sunday, a photographer from Hounslow Chronicle came around to take photos of baby Ann, although Ann was sleeping at the time, we are glad that a smiling face of her was caught in the photo, the photographer was even joking with us that baby Ann will be a little “man - killer”, Daddy responded with “we got to lock her up till she is 18!”

Today ( Thursday 12th Feb 2009) the newspaper is out, Daddy got hold of a copy straight away! We can’t wait to tell the good news to the whole world!

Baby Ann, Daddy and mummy are so proud of you! You are the truly special one to us!

29th of January 2009 is the day I will never forget, because this was the day Daddy and me have been waiting and looking forward to.

Although we didn't expect to meet baby Ann that early, Ann’s early arrival gave us a joyful surprise and we had the extra 10 days of happiness in our lives.

At the early hour of 29th Jan around 2 am, I found myself having a 'show' of labour, I quickly had a shower and went back to sleep, a few hours later, slight contraction started, I told Daddy who was still sleeping (maybe dreaming of baby Ann) that our baby would be coming soon....

By 12 pm of 29th Jan, my contraction gets more and more intense, Daddy came back from work and stay with me since. At 3pm, contractions became a bit too much for me to take. I called the labour ward and was told to go into hospital.

At 4pm, my midwife, Michelle, finally turned up and assessed me. My progress was very fast, I was 4 cm dilated already and I was taken to the labour suite straight away.

The labour suite at West Middlesex University Hospital is spacious and cosy, with adjustable lights, soft music, comfy chair and bed, but all these can not take away the pains every time contraction hits.

I requested Epidural as this was what I planned for labour, however the midwife didn't want me to have it although she didn’t tell me that directly, instead she offered other pain release alternative like gas and air, to be honest, gas and air doesn't work for reducing the pain, it only can help me with breathing correctly at the beginning, with contraction gets more intense and stronger, the only relief is to scream out loud!

By 7 pm, i was fully dilated, baby Ann is ready to meet the world! after numerous pushes, Ann's hair was visible and the midwife placed a welcome towel on my tummy - baby Ann is coming in no time, at 7:24 pm, with the biggest push I made ever in my life, my baby was born!!! Her crispy sharp cries changed my life ....

My little Ann was such a good girl, she treats mummy so good that the whole labour was quick, smooth and safe, I gave birth to this most precious baby in 3 hours with no Epidural, no injection, no cut nor tear and no stitches, i felt myself so lucky. Looking at Ann's cute little face, all the pains fading away only joy and happiness filled up my life, I become the proudest mum ever...
Having Ann in my tummy is such a magical experience, as a first time mum to be, with a tiny life growing in me, its unique and special, full of curiosity...

We saw baby at her 12th week scan, it was so exciting to see a heathy tiny life moving about, her heart beats make me nearly tear with joy!

Since Ann was 17 weeks in me, she started to make little movements, every slight kick or even her little hiccups gave me great joy and expectation. every day I talk to her, telling her everything happening around, how daddy and mummy loves her... Singing to Ann has been my daily routine as well, she enjoys music so much, I can feel her gently kicks when music is on, which excites me every time.

At 21st week, we knew Baby is a little princess, then her name Ann came along, Ann is of as the same pronunciation of An which means Peace, we hope Baby Ann will be peaceful all her life.

Baby Ann celebrated mummy's 32 year old birthday on 1 Oct 2008, Ann was clearly shown in mummy's black dress and attracted many envious eyes in the restaurant (as mummy was still very slim even carrying Baby Ann in the tummy).

We took Ann for her first trip at her 26th week (in my tummy) to Lake District, breathtaking views, long walks and fresh air which is good for baby.

From Ann's 30th week, Baby Ann grew very fast, mummy weight started to increase every week from then. She was more recognisable even mummy wore very loose clothing.

Daddy and me have always been eager to see Ann's face, finally at Ann's 32nd weeks, we went for a 4D ultrasound, when we first saw her chubby face with one of her hands covering an eye, it was like over the moon!!

On Dec 25th 2008, baby Ann had her first christmas, Daddy decorated our home with Christmas tree and presents. Baby Ann got a pair of lovely little satin shoes from her big sister Hannah, so cute!

Baby Ann was suppose to be due on 8th Feb 2009, just after Chinese New Year. Daddy and me met up with the family to celebrate year of the OX. Maybe it was the rich New Year food or simply Baby Ann just couldn't wait to meet Daddy and me, She was born 10 days earlier on 29th Jan 2009 which was such a joyful surprise for the new year, for our new life.....
